I’ve been doing my own gel polish for years to help save money now that I’m a stay at home mom. Well, I decided to give poly gel a try after watching several videos. Definitely has a learning curve but after some practice it went really well! The only thing is if you are new, I’d choose a color other than clear for your first application. It’s so hard to tell how thin or thick the gel is since it’s clear, so I ended up with some pretty thick nail ends which is annoying, but it’ll get better the more I do my nails. They look over all fantastic in my opinion.
This was my first time ever trying Poly gel. Figured I’d give it a go since I’m cheap and and don’t want to pay $60 to get my nails done every 2 weeks. Also I don’t wanna be stuck in a nail salon right now. I gave this kit a try and although there was a major learning curve, once I got the hang of it, i was really digging this. Doing my dominant hand with my non dominant was a real pain in the butt, like seriously- i can barely paint my right hand without looking like a toddler did it so I wasn’t expecting good results but they didn’t come out too bad luckily. Although my thumb on that hand looks wonky, kinda like my grandmas lifted toenail lol. I figured I’d leave it for now, it adds character . Plus there’s no way in hell I’m gonna try to redo this now after I spent like 5 hours learning this crap. I imagine once I do it more it’ll become easier. I do like that I can “build” a nail and I don’t need to glue on tips unless I want to. I’d say this is a pretty good investment and I look forward to playing with it a little more.
I got the polygel to save money on getting my nails done. It’s very user friendly, but I will say there is for sure a learning curve. It came easy to me as I can do my own acrylics, but others have taken a couple tries to get it looking professional. I’ll definitely say the colors it comes with give you a good variety to start out with. I absolutely LOVE this kit and have saved over $400 on my nails so far! For sure worth taking the couple times to practice. You need to get a nail drill to make the process easier and end result more seamless (just be sure you’re using the correct speed and attachments- never drill on your natural nail faster than the lowest speed). This product set is by far the best I have tried!
LOVES this poly gel!!! This was my first time ever using a poly gel and I am amazed at the results. Each nail has the poly gel application, I’ve circled the nails I didn’t polish so you all can see this gel in it’s natural state. I’m not a nail tech, I’m just neat and started doing my nails decades ago as a child. I’m new to poly gels and just ordered more shades to build my collection.
This stuff is a game changer. I’ve been going to the nail tech for years and I swear after trying this twice I’ve given myself a better manicure than some of the professionals. I’ve noticed this brand is a little better quality than the other brand I tried out too.
OK so typically I don’t write reviews about things that I buy on Amazon but I just wanted to say how excited I was to get this product in the mail I got it within five days. So I thought I knew everything there was for poly gel I watch a couple videos and saw a whole bunch of ads on line about you know easy process it took me about five or six tries it definitely took me a while to get used to what I was doing but the final result is very beautiful and they are sturdy and strong and honestly I feel that they are much easier than acrylic. Then Final outcome was just amazing.
My third attempt was successful. My initial problem? Slip solution! Don’t bother and use 70% rubbing alcohol instead and this stuff works. Make sure to blot your brush before pushing it around. Warming the bottle in warm water first does help. I prepped my nails accordingly used beetles base gel under application and I feel like these nails are solidly on. It hurts when I knock my nail, dang. I need a nail drill to smooth the backs, I made the nail bed way too thick to start as it oozed. But I love that if you make a cured layer too thin you can easily add onto it.
I’m a beginner and I’ve tried maybe around five different brands. So far I think Modelones polygel may be my favorite. It’s dense and stiff, making it easier to sculpt into the shape I want. I love this particular color, the black is a bit translucent but has tiny glitter speckles (silver/black) along with glittery flakes so it camouflages your existing nail fairly well. In my photo, my middle and ring finger have a thin layer of pearl underneath, that’s why they appear lighter in color. Overall I give this poly gel an A+…. but again, I’m a beginner so it’s kind of like a substitute teacher giving an A+ instead of a college professor.
